Microchipping
A microchip is a permanent means of identifying your pet so should they become lost the chance of being reunited is much improved.
Microchipping is a procedure which involves injecting a small microchip under the skin of the scruff of the neck. There is no need for sedation or anaesthesia so it can be done in a consultation.
Each chip carries a unique number which can be read by a portable scanner. The number is registered on a central database so if a pet is found then they can be scanned and the owner located.
Maintaining Health
We aim to work closely with you to ensure your pet stays as healthy as possible for as long as possible. Regular preventative healthcare along with a good diet is key to this.
Our Pet Health Club aims to make this as affordable as possible. Membership includes annual vaccinations, worm and flea treatment and an excellent diet at cost price.
Membership also includes, amongst other things, reduced cost consultations which make it affordable for you to come in and see us if you have any concerns about the health of your pet.
Please see our Pet Health Club page for more details
Parasite Control
Fleas breed throughout the year in heated homes and it is therefore advisable to maintain a regular flea control programme which will kill the adult fleas and which should prevent a build up of fleas in the environment.
Worms are mainly found within the intestines of your cat or dog. Eggs are produced which can be ingested by other animals and humans.
Certain roundworms can have serious health effects on humans including blindness. We recommend regular worm control to reduce any risk associated with worms in your cat or dog.
Investigation and Treatment
If you have a concern about the health of your pet we will book you a 15 minute appointment. This will allow us to listen to your concerns, examine your pet and discuss with you what the problems are, what investigations might be required to get a diagnosis and what the possible costs are.
We have a full range of facilities including radiography, ultrasonography, endoscopy, blood testing, surgical facilities, separate dog, cat and isolation wards.
We offer anyone who would like to register as a client the opportunity to come and look at the facilities.
Out of hours emergency care
We are a small practice. This has many advantages, the main one being that we can get to know you well and that you can get to know and trust us. The downside of being a small practice is that we are not able to provide good quality 24hour a day care every day of the year.
Our aim is that you are provided with the best care all the time which is why we have teamed up with Abivale Veterinary Group.
They will continue to provide you with the care you rightly expect outside of our opening hours.
